Stampede Western Photo Gallery – Picture Frame

It’s that time of year again when Calgary prepares for the Stampede. This would include the Canadian Geographic Magazine whom is the host of a Junior Photo Contest for the Stampede Western Photo Gallery.

It was an honour and a pleasure to have been the one to custom frame these winning photos. Custom Picture Framing is finding a unique way of presenting works of art. So when Janice Meyers brought this collection of photos to me for framing, a simple black frame with a white mat just wouldn’t do. Black and white are a formal way of putting a collection together but take a close look at the details.

1. The black frame has a slight scoop with a shine, a classy way of saying something formal about the winning photos.

2. The white mat has a v-groove. Adding a v-groove helps break up the solid white margin of the image and this detail is unique to custom picture framing.

About artist and illustrator

I'm a textile artist, resourceful and excited about making things. Dog walks with my pooch "Charlie" is inspiring and an opportunity to develop ideas from nature and people whom we meet on our strolls. There is a story behind my art making, it's in the series, I don't make just one but many from the same idea, but! not one will look like the other, each piece of art is "one-of-a-kind".

  1. great work Susan. the collection looks great on the walls in the Western Photo Gallery. If you get a chance to come down to the Gallery you will find us in the BMO building, near the oasis wine bar!

Thanks Janice. I’ll look forward to the exhibition.
And the wine bar, how convenient. Smiles.
