Illustrated by Vanja Vuleta Jovanovic

With so much art happening in the backyard this summer I thought that I would share a little night-time reading for the children. This book is all about colour and getting to know yourself.

Violet or Purple, happens to be one of my favorite colours, maybe that’s why I was attracted to this book in the library. “Violet” is a wonderfully illustrated children’s book that encourages the young reader to visually observe oneself and the people around.

“You must be related you two have such a striking resemblance to one another” is what I casually say in conversation when meeting new people in the park that are obvious family members. In this book Violet doesn’t exactly look like her parents but….. she learns why see looks the way she does.

About artist and illustrator

I'm a textile artist, resourceful and excited about making things. Dog walks with my pooch "Charlie" is inspiring and an opportunity to develop ideas from nature and people whom we meet on our strolls. There is a story behind my art making, it's in the series, I don't make just one but many from the same idea, but! not one will look like the other, each piece of art is "one-of-a-kind".
