Dog Pile – Art in the works by Susan Fae

During the month of December I will be exhibiting “Dogs and their Walkers”at the Thornhill Library in Calgary, NW. I thought that I’d share a little of what I’m working on, so here is a pile of dog lino carvings (still in the works). The earlier lino carvings are from the summer when my backyard was known as the hydration station for both dogs and their walkers. Now that the cooler weather is here you can see that the dog carvings are a little more action oriented, and the humans have more clothing.

The above images are summer portraits, the lino carvings in the first photo (not yet printed) are more recent.

Oh! yes I’ll be throwing a cat into the pile.

About artist and illustrator

I'm a textile artist, resourceful and excited about making things. Dog walks with my pooch "Charlie" is inspiring and an opportunity to develop ideas from nature and people whom we meet on our strolls. There is a story behind my art making, it's in the series, I don't make just one but many from the same idea, but! not one will look like the other, each piece of art is "one-of-a-kind".

  1. Wow! That is an absolutely stunning cat you have carved! And I’m barely biased – ha ha ha.

Susan, I LOVE these. Just picked one up on your Etsy shop! 😉 Beautifully done! (And nice one of Kush, too…definitely a portrait-worthy cat.)

My BEAUTIFUL print arrived in the mail today! Susan, it’s so lovely! Thank you. It is going up on my “inspiration wire”. And thank you for the printed (and blank) fabric pieces. A wonderful surprise! 🙂
