BAILEY at the Museum – Children’s Book Review

Children always remind me to find a good story with great illustrations. I received this lovely work of art in my mailbox the other day and thought I’d share it with the world. Here in Calgary we get sun and snow all in a day and often at the same time, amazing how weather can stimulate a great work of art.

Jan 2013_889Speaking of great works of art, this weeks book review is BAILEY at the Museum by Harry Blisss

Bailey at the Museum

Not all art makes it to the Museum of Civilization like the one in the story, nor are dogs typically allowed in a museum but you know Harry Bliss can make anything happen especially when you’re a cartoonist. Bailey has many privileges; being part of a school, then to have such great instincts as to know when a great bone has been found, or nice place to take a snooze, but his greatest talent is his sense of smell.

I believe that a dog can bring a family together just as Bailey brings a class of students together. Dogs have many stories to tell, and we as humans can just imagine what they are thinking like Harry Bliss whom puts the word bubbles above the heads of people and Bailey in the story.

I don’t take my dog to the museum but he loves our Starbuck visits. Here is a photo of him enjoying his drink.Jan 2013_963

About artist and illustrator

I'm a textile artist, resourceful and excited about making things. Dog walks with my pooch "Charlie" is inspiring and an opportunity to develop ideas from nature and people whom we meet on our strolls. There is a story behind my art making, it's in the series, I don't make just one but many from the same idea, but! not one will look like the other, each piece of art is "one-of-a-kind".
